KARACHI (Dunya News) - A national day of mourning is being observed today (Thursday) over Safoora Chowrangi massacre in Karachi that left 45 of minority Ismaili community dead, Dunya News reported.

Most of the business and educational centers are closed whereas public transport is also rare on the roads.

Various political and religious parties are observing day of mourning while examinations have also been postponed in all the educational institutions.

On this occasion, the national flag has been lowered and waved at half-mast on all the government buildings in the province and federal capital.

Moreover, heavy contingent of police and rangers’ have been deployed in the city and patrolling has been increased.

The day is also being observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Government has officially announced to observe one-day mourning today in grief and sorrow of yesterday’s tragic and barbaric act of terrorism in Karachi.
