ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The parliamentary leaders on Wednesday demanded to visit the Economic Corridor route in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The participants recommended forming a parliamentary committee to monitor the project.
PM Nawaz said that consultation cannot be bypassed on key issues. Former president Asif Ali Zardari said that the political leaders should endorse the project for the sake of country’s future.
Various parliamentary leaders expressed their opinion regarding the project including the desire to visit the proposed route of the corridor.
Prime Minister said the government believes in resolving all issues through mutual agreement and that the consultation cannot be bypassed.
Terming economic corridor project as a national project, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi congratulated the government.
Briefing the participants on the project, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that the purpose of Pak-China economic corridor is to equally develop all parts of the country as per long term development program. He said the project will complete in 2030.
