ISLAMABAD (Web Desk / AP) - The body of the late Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Domingo Lucenario Jr. has been sent back to Manila on Tuesday afternoon.

On the occasion, a contingent of armed forces presented guard of honor. Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan is proceeding to Manila along body of the deceased.

A career diplomat, Lucenario was appointed by President Aquino as ambassador to Pakistan in 2012 with jurisdiction over Afghanistan, Kyrgzstan and Tajikistan.

On Friday, a Pakistani army helicopter crashed on its way to an inauguration at a resort in the country s north, killing ambassadors to Islamabad from the Philippines and Norway, as well as the wives of the ambassadors from Malaysia and Indonesia — and a three-member crew in what was one of the worst such incident in the country involving a high number of foreign dignitaries.

The air force said a technical failure caused the crash.
