KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Members of Parliament (MPAs) staged a protest in assembly on the absence of Chief Minister (CM) Sindh while debating on water crisis, reported Dunya News.

During the debate on the issue of water crisis, MQM members started protesting in the assembly over the absence of CM on which Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Memon replied to direct the queries related to CM towards him.

MQM MPA Muhammad Hussain alleged that Karachi is being treated as a ‘step-child’ in terms of number of development projects adding that 849 million rupees had been allocated for water projects yet not a single rupee has been released.

Harsh words were exchanged between MQM and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) members when the time of debate exceeded the limit.

Opposition leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said that Karachi Electric and Water Board should not politicize the matter.

He said that if water board is handed over for 3 months to opposition, all problems can be solved.

Replying to opposition, Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Memon said that if the situation of Karachi Electric does not improve then officials will be arrested.

Sindh Assembly unanimously approved a bill on amendment of Local Government Act, which will provide Town Committees and Municipal Committees with protection.
