BHAWALPUR (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday stated that the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has completed the solar project in less than one year.
While addressing at the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of country’s first solar power project, CM Punjab said that the project has been producing electricity for past two months.
The installation of country’s first solar power project was not an easy task but the government has fulfilled its promise, he added.
Talking about the outcomes of the project, Shahbaz Sharif assured that this energy project would surely eradicate the problems of Cholistan and would also bring prosperity in the region.
He further felicitated and thanked PM Nawaz for his consistent leadership, hard working and sincere efforts and wished him all the best for other projects.
He vowed to provide electricity at cheap rates to every sector of the country and directed the authorities to revise the solar tariff regularly. He further lauded the friendship of China as the trusted friend has pledged to assist Pakistan at any cost and for every field. He termed the Chinese investment as a gift for Pakistan.
No other friend has come up to help Pakistan either than China, therefore, we should appreciate this step of China, CM Punjab stated.
While criticising the opposition parties, he said that sit-ins had affected the implementation of this project temporarily but the government didn t give up.
He thanked the labors, administration, companies CEOs, honest officials and staff for their struggles.
In the end, he announced to make first industrial sector in Bhawalpur so that the natives can get employment to furnish their skills and experience.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has inaugurated the second phase of country’s first solar power project. The first unit has been completed which will add at least 100 Mega Watt (MW) in the national grid.
According to the details, 132 kilovoltes (KV) transmission line has been stretched for the electricity supply. An advanced grid station has also been formed.
The Punjab government has bore all the expenditures of the first solar project in the country. The project aims at adding at least 1,000 MW electricity to the national grid after completion.
Chinese president Xi Jinping had laid the foundation stone of the second phase of project during his historic visit in April. The PM had initiated the project in May 2014.
The first unit stretches across as many as 500 acres with a cost of at least Rs 15 billion.
The inaugural ceremony of the second phase is being attended by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese ambassador along with other dignitaries.
