LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Rallies were held on Friday in all major cities across Pakistan as the world celebrates Labour Day.  Participants of the rally called for implementation of the minimum wages provision. They said that the minimum wages according to the government must be Rs. 12,000 but most organizations still don’t follow the rule, reported Dunya News.

In Lahore, People’s Labour Bureau held a rally from Railway Station to Lahore Press Club. The rally was led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo. The participants raised slogans in favor of their demands on this occasion.

In Faisalabad, factory labourers, Rikshaw union and other organizations held rallies from GTS Chowk to District Bar Council. The participants said on this occasion that the government should take steps to ensure that minimum wages provision is implemented.

Large number of labourers took part in rallies in Multan. Participants also protested by blocking Abdali Road.

In Dera Ismail Khan, National Labour Front held a rally. A seminar was also held on this occasion and it was addressed by MNA Jamshed Dasti.

In Quetta, various organizations held rallies from Multan Chowk, Circular Road and Chaman Phaatak. The participants of the rallies were carrying banners and placards for their demands.

Hundreds of labourers of WAPDA Hydro Union and PTCL Employees Union conducted rallies in Sukkur.

Cart-drivers and rikshaw drivers came on roads in Sadiqabad.

In many cities of Azad Kashmir including Muzaffarabad, rallies were held on 1st of May.
