LAHORE (Dunya News) – An award ceremony was held in honour of soldiers who gave sacrifices for the country in the line of duty on Tuesday.
Lieutanent General Naveed Zaman distributed awards among 100 officers, soldiers and heir of martyrs in Corps Head Quarters.
Among the recipients of the awards was a soldier who had lost his eyesight for which Lieutenant General Naveed Zaman came to the soldier himself and awarded him with Sitara-e-Basalat in an emotional gesture.
The soldier in question, Muhammad Sabir said that although his eyes had been taken by the terrorists but he would gladly give his life in the service of his country.
Corps Commander awarded Tamgha-e-Basalat to 40 martyrs and 9 veterans, 16 awards of Sitara-e-Imtiaz Military for exemplary service to officers and soldiers while 35 personnel were awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
The families of the martyrs appeared proud of the sacrifices of their family members and said that if need arose, they would also offer their lives for their country.
