ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry on Saturday has written a letter to National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asking him on what grounds Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) resigned members sat in the Parliament to discuss Yemen conflict.
Ex-CJ’s lawyer, while talking to the media said that Chaudhry wrote a letter to Sadiq inquiring him about the matter. The letter states that the resignations of the assembly members are deemed to be acknowledged after 40 days of submission.
The letter further states that it is the Speaker NA’s responsibility to acknowledge the resignations. Elections should be held for the seats that get vacant. He said that the rules were not taken seriously on April 6.
The letter urges the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the schedule of holding of elections in the specific constituencies.
