Summary The by-election will decide about the new political force in the city, says PTI leader Arif Alvi
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has on Monday nominated Imran Ismail as its candidate for the by-election in NA-246 Karachi. PTI leader Arif Alvi said on this occasion that this by-election will decide about the new political force in the city. Imran Ismail said that the elections should be held under the surveillance of army and Rangers, Dunya News reported.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Dr. Arif Alvi announced to hold a public meeting in the Jinnah Ground of Azizabad. Imran Ismail said on this occasion that he did not have a personal rivalry with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). “Everyone can hold public meeting in the Jinnah Ground”, he said.
Imran Ismail said that this by-election will decide whether fear will rule the city of peace.
The by-election on NA-246 will be held on 23rd of April, 2015. The seat was vacated after Nabeel Gabol’s resignation.
Information Secretary PTI Dr. Shireen Mazari has also claimed that PTI will record a historic win in this by-election. Sheerin Mazari said that PTI will emerge victorious in Karachi just like it did in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. She said that the nation was now ready to confront “MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s terrorism”. Criticizing MQM leader, Mazari said that Altaf Hussain had a habit of resigning from his party every third week.
“Altaf Hussain has hurt the interests of Urdu-speaking people for his own interests. His dictatorial thinking didn’t allow him to leave the party headship”, she said. She added that the language Altaf used for the daughters of the nation was derogatory and it is time now that Altaf Hussain gets held accountable.
PTI spokesperson said that her party will make Karachi a ‘city of lights’ once again. “PTI has ended the culture of extortion from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP). It will do the same in Karachi”, she said. She said that end of target-killing in Karachi after raid on Nine-Zero was a clear indicator.
