Summary Saudi Arabia had sought Pakistan's help against threats

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan on Thursday announced to ‘strongly react’ in order to defend its long term ally Saudi Arabia in case of any threats to regional security of Saudi Arabia, Dunya News reported.

According to details, a high level meeting took place in Islamabad presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and Air Chief Marshal Tariq Rafiq Butt as well.

In the meeting, the top leadership reviewed the situation in Middle East and exchanged views. It was decided in the meeting that Pakistan will strongly react in order to defend Saudi Arabia against any threats.

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif and Advisor to Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz are due to visit Saudi Arabia tomorrow (Friday).

Reportedly, Prime Minister said that Pakistan gives priority to security of its friendly ally Saudi Arabia and gulf countries.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Foreign Office had earlier confirmed that Saudi Arabia had contacted Pakistan for support over crisis in Yemen.

The Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said Pakistanis in Yemen have been alerted in the wake of prevailing crisis, adding that Pakistan was ready to evacuate Pakistanis if the situation deteriorates.
