LAHORE (Dunya News) -- Punjab government conceded to Kissan Association s demands on Thursday. The government also announced to cancel all the cases registered during the protests, reported Dunya News.
The Kissan Association had been protesting against Punjab government since Wednesday on Multan Road, Thokar Niaz Baig areas of Lahore where it had blocked the roads.
Farmers from all parts of Punjab took part in protest, where they shouted slogans against Punjab government while remaining adamant on protesting till their demands were met.
Heavy presence of police was observed at protest where the police personnel were equipped with various equipment and water cannons to counter any unpleasant event that might occur.
The protestors remained firm on their ground while their representative delegation, presided by Chairman of Pakistan Kissan Council Chaudary Anwar Mehmood met with members of the government.
It should be noted here that while the negotiations were underway, the traffic system remained choked throughout the major roads of the city.
After an hour of negotiations, former Law Minister Rana Sanaullah approached the protestors and assured them of meeting their demands.
The farmers were also assured of changes in General Sales Tax (GST) and reduction in electricity bills according to their purports.
The government also gave news to the farmers regarding a grand gathering which would be addressed by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif where he would dispel any doubts the farmers may have in their minds.
