KARACHI (Web Desk) – At least two persons have died and twelve others injured in an explosion outside a mosque in Aaram Bagh area of Karachi on Friday, Dunya News reported.

One of the deceased has been identified as Shabbir. 

According to preliminary details, a remote-controlled bomb weighing 3.5 kg, fixed on a motorbike at the entrance of Saleh Masjid, was detonated when people were leaving the mosque after Friday prayers.



Main gate of the mosque was also damaged in the explosion while dozens of motorcycles parked outside the mosque were also destroyed. 



Rangers personnel have arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The injured are being shifted to civil hospital. 



 Friday`s attack was the first on a Bohra mosque in the southern port city since an incident three years ago, in which seven people were killed.

The government has pledged to crack down on all militant groups, reintroduce the death penalty, set up military courts to speed convictions and widen its military campaign in lawless tribal areas.
