ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has on Friday directed the party to expedite its contacts with the public in view of the coming local body elections. He directed the PPP leaders and workers to improve their ties with the masses, Dunya News reported.

Talking to a delegation led by President PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) Senator Khanzada Khan, Asif Zardari said that he would soon be visiting Peshawar for campaigning for the local body elections. The meeting was also attended by former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and PPP-Parliamentarians’ vice president Sherry Rehman. The political situation of the country was discussed on this occasion.

Zardari directed the provincial president of the party to start preparing for his visit. According to his spokesperson Farhat Ullah Babar, Asif Zardari made it clear that the PPP would be participating in the elections at all levels. He told that directions have also been issued for setting up committees for selecting the candidates for elections.

Former President has said that local bodies are like a nursery for democracy and it is important that they are contested on party-bases.
