Summary PML-N candidate Javed Abbasi was elected on seat reserved for technocrats.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Was it a secret agreement or violation of party discipline? Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly also voted in favour of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Javed Abbasi to help him secure technocrat seat in the Senate elections, sources told.
Javed Abbasi secured 40 votes to win the elections.
It is pertinent to mention here that votes were cast in favour of the PML-N candidate on second priority whereas the PML-N members kept PTI candidates on second priority for women reserved and minority seats.
On the other hand, alliance between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Pakistan Peoples Party and Awami National Party (ANP) also proved fruitful.
Khanzada Khan of PPP won by securing nine votes.
Major upset in the election was Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) candidate Amar Ahmed Khan’s loss who could only get eight votes whereas there are total ten QWP lawmakers.
