Summary Gas and smoke engulfed the basement hall which caused the students to suffocate.

LAHORE (Dunya news) – Smoke from generator engulfed a school event on Saturday which caused 35 kids to faint. A private school in Mughalpura area of Lahore had arranged a farewell function in honor of its students of class 10th. An electrical power outage halted the event momentarily. The school’s administration turned on a generator for power without even thinking that the event was being held in a basement hall. Gas and smoke engulfed the basement hall which caused the students to suffocate. The students fell unconscious one by one. They were then taken out of the hall immediately.


According to the details, 35 of the student’s condition worsened. Rescue teams immediately shifted the unconscious kids to Shalamar and Services hospital where their treatment has been started. 7 kids were brought to Shalamar while 28 kids were brought to Services hospital.


District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore has taken notice of this event. DCO has demanded a report regarding the incident from the Assistant Commissioner and from officials of the Education Department.


Police has taken 2 people from the school’s administration into custody.
