RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – At least three people have died and two other injured as result of firing and explosion outside Imambargah at Shakaryal Road area in Rawalpindi, Dunya News reported.
The explosion took place just as Maghribain prayers were being held at the mosque of Qasr-e-Sakina Imambargah. The preliminary report suggests that more than one suicide bombers could entered in the Imambargah. The report adds that the initial explosion was result of a grenade explosion and suicide bomber had failed to detonate his suicide vest.
The spokeswoman of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital Dr Ayesha told the press that two persons were already dead when brought to the hospital. She identified the deceased as Ghulam Hussain and Abdul Shukoor. Another person succumbed to injuries, rising the toll to three.
Dr Ayesha revealed that the deceased died as result of firing and not the explosion.
During the intensive operation, the Bomb Disposal Squad has successfully diffused the undetonated suicide vest. The situation is completely under control as per the security forces personnel.
