Summary Agreement was signed between UN's ambassador for education Gordon Brown and govt of Pakistan
LONDON: (Dunya News) – An agreement between the government of Pakistan and the United Nations (UN) has been signed on Tuesday for the security of the schools. The agreement was signed between UN’s special ambassador for education, and former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown and the government of Pakistan. According to the agreement, peace zones will be established around schools, Dunya News reported.
According to the recommendations by Gordon Brown, peace zones will be established around schools, security guards will be deployed and latest metal-detectors will be used at schools to save them from any threat of terrorism. Recommendations also include installation of modern satellite system for emergency situations.
Moreover, security walls will be constructed around the schools, security check-points will be established and razor-fences will be applied around the schools.
A system will be installed that will help informing the other schools of threat in case a school is attacked. Tools will also be installed that will help the schools to call for immediate help in case of emergency.
Strict surveillance of the areas around schools and daily checking of buses will also be practiced.
The agreement to act upon all these recommendations has been reached by Gordon Brown and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif. Gordon Brown said that local communities and religious scholars will be engaged in the process of providing security to the schools.
