PM Modi telephones PM Nawaz, discusses bilateralism, peace

Summary Earlier, PM Nawaz opposed Obama's decision of giving permanent seat to India in UNSC.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) of India Nerender Modi called on PM Nawaz today (Friday) to discuss bilateral cooperation, relation and peace in the region, Dunya News reported.

It may be pertinent to mention here that it was for the first time after South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Conference that both leaders had official telephonic talk however, Nerender Modi assured to resume negotiations with Pakistan.

During the conversation, PM Modi memorized PM Nawaz the old days of cricket when he appeared to play warm-up match in 1987 and stated that Imran Khan was leading the Pakistan cricket team at that time.



Moreover, issues related to Line of Control (LoC) violation, discrimination and table talks were also discussed.

Earlier, United States (US) president Barack Obama on Thursday called on Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and took him in confidence regarding his recent visit to India.

The leaders discussed matters of mutual interest. He said that US considers Pakistan one of its important allies.

Both the leaders talked for over 30 minutes on different matters including war on terror and regional situation. PM Nawaz said that India does not deserve a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
