LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan has decided to challenge in mediation court of World Bank the building of two controversial power houses in Indian held Kashmir after declaring failure of negotiation of Indus Water Commission, Dunya News reported.

Meanwhile, a corruption scandal in Pakistan Indus Water Commission has also surfaced.

According to the details, India plans to stop 6100 acre feet water in Kishan Ganga through 380 megawatt powerhouse at River Jhelum whereas 19 thousand acre feet water in lake of Ratlay power house through the under construction 850 megawatt powerhouse at River Chenab.

Last week in the meeting that took place in New Delhi, Pakistani Indus Water Commissioner Mirza Asif Baig strongly protested against Indian actions and now a decision has been made to refer the case to the mediation court of the World Bank after suspending all negotiations. This decision has been made after the approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, a scandal of disappearance of 1.5 crore rupees from official accounts of the Indus Water Commission has surfaced.

At least one crore rupees have been recovered from Additional Commissioner Sheraz Memon. The corruption scandal has rung alarm bells of suspicion about fighting the Indus Water case against India as the expert engineers Tahir Wasim and Usman Ghani have been deployed in WAPDA for several years while third Deputy Commissioner Faris Qazi has refused to come back to Pakistan from abroad.
