Summary Members 'shamed' PM, ministers for not visiting Shikarpur, Opposition leader told govt to mend ways

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Monday condemning the Shikarpur incident that took place on 30th of January. Opposition members raised slogans of  shame  for the Prime Minister and the cabinet members for not visiting Shikarpur after the incident, reported Dunya News.

National Assembly (NA) session started under the headship of Speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah said on this occasion that Shikarpur incident was a huge tragedy but even more tragic was the fact that none of the members of the cabinet including PM Nawaz Sharif visited the aggrieved. He said that the federation failed to play its role. “Dead bodies were being buried in Shikarpur while federal ministers were enjoying in Islamabad. Is Sindh not a part of federation?” asked Shah.

Pakistan People s Party (PPP) leader said that Peshawar and Shikarpur incidents were failures of the security agencies. He said that the parliament took a bitter pill by passing the 21st amendment yet the security forces failed to provide security to the people. He said that the opposition did not want to do politics on dead bodies but the government must mend its ways.

Federal Minister Inter Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada presented the resolution in the parliament condemning the Shikarpur incident which was unanimously adopted by the house. The resolution pressed the government to implement the National Action Plan with complete force to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch warned that Sindh, especially Karachi, could be target of a terrorist attack. He advised the provincial government to prepare for countering terrorism and announced complete support in this regard on behalf of the federal government.

MNA Jamshed Dasti demanded resignation from Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah for not being able to control law and order. He demanded immediate arrest of IG Sindh and the Chief Secretary.

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmad Bilour announced prize worth 200,000 dollars for the killers of Charlie Hebdo magazine s owner. He also announced prize worth USD 100,000 each for the  martyrs  who died attacking the office of the magazine that published blasphemous cartoons.
