Punjab: PML-N decides to nominate candidates on all seats of Senate

Summary A meeting of PML-N's parliamentary party will also be held to take members into confidence.

LAHORE (Dunya news) – Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif on Saturday decided to nominate candidates on all 11 seats of Senate. The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has formed a committee headed by former Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to assure success in this regard.


The decision was made during a meeting held in Model Town of Punjab’s important Ministers and Members of Assembly.


According to the details, the meeting was presided over by CM Punjab. Strategy to contest Senate elections was discussed in the meeting. The decision was made that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) would try to win all 11 seats of Senate.


The committee formed in this regard will be headed by Rana Sanaullah and will include Hamza Shahbaz, Raja Ishfaq Sarwar, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Bilal Yasin, Rana Muhammad Arshad and other senior leaders.


A decision has also been made to call a meeting of Punjab Assembly in the next week for preparation for Senate and for effective coordination between the members. These meetings shall continue till the Senate elections. A meeting of PML-N’s parliamentary party will also be held to take members into confidence on the Senate strategy. PML-N will not perform seat adjustment with any party in the Senate elections.


The Senate’s elections are scheduled for March 2015.
