KARACHI (Dunya news) – After cutbacks in petroleum prices, goods transporters on Saturday announced reduction in transport fares. Goods transporters reduced fares by 5% while inter-city transporters cut transport fares by 3 to 5%. Sindh’s Minister for Transport Mumtaz Jakhrani has called a meeting in this regard on Monday.
According to the details, the chairman of United Goods Transporter Alliance (UGTA) Khaled Khan informed that the reduction in fares was a voluntary decision. The cutbacks in fares will be in effect from 1st of February. The Minister for Transport stated that fares for transport will be reduced according to the reduction in petroleum prices.
Jakhrani said action to end unlawful bus stands shall be decided in the meeting. Jakhrani also stated that action shall be taken against any public transporter refusing to reduce fare.
