SHIKARPUR (Dunya News) – Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen and Jaa’fria Alliance on Friday called for strike in the province following the deadly explosion on an Imambargah in Shikarpur that claimed 55 lives and wounded dozens. Echoing people’s sentiments, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah also announced a day of mourning in the province on Saturday, Dunya News reported.

According to the details, CM Sindh announced Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the slain worshippers whereas Rs 1 lakh each for the wounded.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, while addressing inauguration ceremony of university in Hyderabad, condemned the Shikarpur attack and announced the day of mourning.

Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen, All Pakistan Shia Ulema Council and Jaa’fria Alliance announced strike in the whole province on Saturday.

Jaa’fria Alliance head Allama Abbas Kumaili said that the government has failed in protecting citizens and therefore martial law should immediately be imposed in Sindh province.

Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen also staged a demonstration at Numaish Chorangi against terrorism. The demonstrators blocked the MA Jinnah Road for traffic.
