Summary The ministers are trying to protect Finance Minister, says Senator Moula Bakhsh

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday has said that the demand of petrol increased after reduction in petroleum products’ prices and due to irresponsible media reporting the petrol shortage intensified.

He expressed these views while briefing a combined meeting of at least three standing committees in Islamabad.

Standing committee of Water and Power, standing committee of petroleum and standing committee of finance held a combined meeting. Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali wanted to brief the meeting but Zahid Khan said that only the person concerned could do so. Upon which Abbasi said that the Ministry of Water and Power owes money to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) but it is not responsible for the petrol crisis. However, the Finance Ministry does not owe PSO any money, he added.

Senator Moula Bakhsh said that all the ministers are trying to protect Finance Minister. If the government is not responsible for the petrol crisis then why did Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Minister for Railways Saad Rafique apologised to the people of the country? He asked.
