CHARSADA/KARACHI (Dunya News) – Anti-polio drive amid tight security initiates in Charsada, Quetta and Karachi today (Monday), Dunya News reported.
Four days anti-polio drive is underway in Charsada that has been started on January 19 and will conclude on January 22.
As per details, 621 Lady Health Workers (LHW’s) teams under the supervision of 144 officials will inoculate polio drops to at least 246,000 children.
Meanwhile, in Quetta, three days anti-polio drive will target 28 districts till January 22 in the first session however, the second session will begin from January 23 and will end on January 26.
According to sources, 950 teams have been formed to vaccinate 417,000 children whereas the polio campaign has been postponed in the areas of Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani and Loralai due to security concerns.
Karachi also undergoes three days anti-polio campaign from today in the districts of Malir, West, East, Central and South. The polio drive will be completed in two sessions by administrating polio drops to at least 876,290 children.
The first session will be carried out in Malir, West and East districts and will vaccinate 231, 963 children in 23 union councils (UCs) of East, 224,822 children in 16 UCs of Malir and 419,505 children in 30 UCs of district West.
The second session of anti polio drive will be arranged in the Central and South districts of Karachi from January 23.
District administration has imposed section 144 to ban pillion riding and weapons display in the city whereas Frontier Corps (FC) and police officials have been deployed for the security of the polio workers.
