Two convicted terrorists hanged in Lahore, Karachi

Summary Convicted terrorists Saeed and Zahid were executed in Karachi and Lahore jails.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Another two convicted terrorists were hanged in Lahore and Karachi on Thursday morning, Dunya News reported.

Death row prisoner Saeed was executed at Central Jail in Karachi. He was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court for murdering Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Sadiq Hussain in 2000. His appeals were rejected by the Sindh High Court, Supreme Court of Pakistan and President.

In Lahore, death row inmate Zahid alias Zaidu was hanged at Kot Lakhpat Jail. He was handed dead penalty by an anti-terrorism court on May 31, 2002 in murder case of ASI Ghulam Rasool.

Later, bodies of both prisoners were handed over to their relatives.

On the other hand, Kot Lakhpat Jail authorities have received death warrants of Ikramul Haq aka Lahori who will be hanged on January 17.

On December 17, Prime minister Nawaz Sharif decided to lift a six year unofficial moratorium on executions a day after the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar, that claimed lives of more than 140 people, most of them students. 

Nine convicts have been sent to the gallows since then.
