ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday has issued directives to implement the National Action Plan on immediate basis in all the provinces. He also issued directives to ban the websites of the banned outfits.
He expressed these views in the high-level meeting in Islamabad to review the implementation on the National Action Plan.
The PM called another high-level meeting of the Chief Ministers (CMs) of all provinces in the next week. The CMs will give briefings to the PM regarding the situation of the implementation of the National Action Plan. PM Nawaz instructed the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) to stop the funding of the banned organisations on immediate basis and ban their social media accounts and websites.
PM Nawaz said that strict action would be taken against the people who present terrorists as heroes. People who deliver hate speeches would also be punished strictly, he added. He said that a state of the art Rapid Response Force is being formed to counter the challenges of terrorism in the country. The force would be given an excellent salary package, he added. PM Nawaz said that the federal government would fully support the provincial governments in countering terrorism.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that a vigilant eye is being kept on maddaris (religious institutions) to stop wrong perception of Islam that leads to terror acts. As many as 95 banned outfits have been identified in Punjab, he added. He said that these organisations are involved in extremist activities and terrorism.
Nisar also told the meeting that as many as 14,000 suspects have been taken into custody in Punjab. At least 180 suspects were taken into custody in Islamabad, he added. The Interior Minister said that as many as 1,100 people have been taken action against in cases of misuse of loud speaker. As many as 251 people have been arrested in cases of deliverance of hate speeches, he added.
