ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members of the National Assembly on Monday demonstrated a walk out of the assembly in wake of MQM workers’ killings and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Qaim Ali Shah.

The session of the National Assembly was chaired by Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

According to the details, the session discussed the Peshawar attack and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Asia Tanawli got her eyes wet and could not complete her speech. Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ayaz Soomro said that it is time that terrorism is put an end to. Shazia Muree said that it would have been good if CM was there at the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar along with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS). He remarked that what kind of message they want to give regarding the ban on entry of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai in the province.

Mehmood Achakzai said that the entire world perceives them as terrorists or at least the people who have connections with terrorists and to change the perception and better the soft image of Pakistan the intervention in Afghanistan would have to stop.
MQM Dr Farooq Sattar accused the Sindh government of doing “state-terrorism” for torturing MQM workers and shifting them to unidentified locations. Dr Sattar wanted to show the pictures of the MQM workers who have been killed in separate crime incidents but the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly abstained him from doing so. MQM members then demanded the resignation of the Sindh CM and walked out of the assembly to demonstrate a protest.

State Minister for Education Baleeghur Rehman said that the Peshawar attack has lifted the spirits of the people higher to counter terrorism. He also said that the federal government would provide the provincial governments at least 1,000 security officials each to counter terrorism. Rehman further said that work is being done on the remaining 19 clauses of the All Parties Conference (APC).

The session of the National Assembly was adjourned until 11am on January 13.
