RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – All Pakistan Shia Action Committee announced three-day mourning as a mark of grief over the Rawalpindi blast whereas funeral prayers of Rawalpindi blast’s martyrs would be offered today (Saturday).
A suicide bomb attack on Friday in Chittian Hattian outside an Imam Bargah left five people including policemen dead and injured at least 18 people.
According to the details, the security officials have bordered the area. The police have been high alerted all over the city.
The window panes of the surrounding buildings and houses have broken due to the intensity of the blast. The rescue teams are facing difficulties due to the electricity outage in the area. The electricity supply of the Committee Chowk and Raja Bazar has been disconnected after the bomb blast.
Sheikh Rasheed has said that the electricity supply of the area has been cut off for at least two days. He said that the area is densely populated and rescue teams are facing severe problems.
The medical staff of the DHQ, Benazir hospitals have been called on emergency basis.
Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the suicide bomb. He has ordered Inspector General (IG) to submit a report on the matter.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Interior and other prominent leaders have condemned the suicide attack on Mehfil-e-Milad event in Rawalpindi.
Prime Minister directed to provide the ‘best’ medical care for the injured. Ch Nisar said that the acts of terrorism cannot deter nation’s spirits.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari said that time has come for the government to take strict action against terrorists.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said that those who attacked a Milad gathering are not worthy of being called Muslims.
Chairman Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Faryal Talpur and Shahi Syed also condemned the suicide attack.
Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen, Shia Ulema Council, Jaa’fria Alliance and Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council also demanded to hang terrorists indiscriminately.
