Summary Directives have been issued to register at least 10 crore SIMs within 90 days
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday has said that the federal and the provincial governments would collectively supervise the madarris (religious institutions). He said that at least 95 culprits have been arrested in Punjab who have connections with the banned outfits.
He expressed these views in the meeting to review the implementation of the National Action Plan.
The notification issued after the meeting states that the Interior Ministry, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), provincial governments and the Pakistan Army collectively are implementing the National Action Plan.
At least 2000 suspects have been arrested from all over the country in different search operations, he added. Nisar said that all the unregistered Afghanis are being registered. As many as 7,000 Afghans are being registered using the biometric system. The notification states that these Afghans would be transported back with the help of United Nations (UN) and the Foreign Ministry. At least 358 calls received on the helpline 1717 could put the law enforcement machinery in action while as many as 500 to 600 calls received on daily basis are bogus.
The law is being reviewed to take action against the owners of unregistered SIMs. Directives have been issued to register at least 10 crore SIMs within 90 days and if these are not registered within the given time frame then the government is entitled to take action, the notification states.
The notification further states that action is being taken against the people who misuse loud speakers, deliverance of hate speeches and distribution of provocative literature. At least 176 cases have been registered for not abiding by the rule against misuse of loud speakers and as many as 115 violators have been arrested.
