Summary Rights organizations had filed a petition to halt execution of minor Shafqat Hussain.
KARACHI (Dunya News)— Sindh High Court on Friday dismissed two appeals against death sentences and also a petition for review of decision against executions.
Two member bench headed by Sindh High Court’s Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Shahaz Sarki heard the petition against executions filed by convict Buhram Khan. Dismissing the petition the court announced that High Court doesn’t have the authority to halt executions.
The court asked family members of the prisoners on death row should instead contact Interior Ministry. The convict Buhram Khan was involved in murdering a lawyer and is expected to be hanged on January 13.
The court also suspended the petition seeking review over decision of Muhammad Awan’s death sentence. Rights organizations had filed a petition to halt execution of minor Shafqat Hussain.
However, the court said it doesn’t have authority to review decision over executions, the human rights organizations should direct the matter to the Supreme Court.
