ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)—Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday said the constitutional amendments give an impression of targeting specific religious institutions. No action can be taken without the consent of the religious madrassas. We are ready to show flexibility if the government initiates, added Fazl.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Islamabad. After the meeting Fazl spoke to the media saying that CM Punjab heard his reservations concerning the recently passed bill in the Parliament. He confirmed he would take up the matter for discussion with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
If only the government includes our recommendations in the amended bill, we would demonstrate flexibility to reach some joint consensus.
He further stated that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be wiped out. We want terrorism to be exterminated completely but the new amendments might be used for targeting religious groups in the country, Fazl reiterated.
Talking about Imran Khan’s wedding, Fazl said getting married isn’t a crime. Islam allows men to marry four times if they like women; however, I am content with one marriage.
Not naya Pakistan but Imran Khan has created naya Reham Pakistan, said Fazl answering one of the questions.
