Summary Cops were on routine patrol in Afghan Basti when unknown gunmen opened fire on police van.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least three people including two policemen have been gunned down in different shooting incidents in the metropolis on Wednesday morning.

Unknown gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened fire on a police van near Sohrab Goth Bridge, killing two cops Asghar Hussain and Muhammad Hussain. The suspects managed to flee from the scene.

The policemen were on routine patrol in Afghan Basti within premises of Sohrab Goth police station.

Separately, a person was shot dead in Baldia Ittehad Town area. Identity of the deceased could not be confirmed as yet.

On the other hand, CID police conducted a raid upon receiving an intelligence report regarding presence of terrorists in Gulshan-e-Maymar area.

Three suspected terrorists were killed during exchange of fire with police.

According to CID Incharge Khurram Waris, the terrorists identified as Gul Pir Khar, Noor Aalam and Amir Muhammad were planning an attack on a school. They were involved in heinous crimes in Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other explosives were also recovered from their possession.
