KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Sindh Government has announced to give Rs100,000 to the affectees of Timber Market inferno, Dunya News reported.
Fire that broke out in Karachi’s Timber Market in Old Haji Camp late on Saturday night was brought under control after 11-hour-longstruggle by fire fighters. The fire caused tens of millions of rupees losses but fortunately there were no casualties.
The Old Haji Camp area houses several commercial warehouses where timber is stored for the furniture manufacturing industry. The warehouses are surrounded by a densely populated residential area.
Reportedly, 86 buildings, 28 godowns and more than 100 houses have been gutted due to the fire.
According to fire authorities, cooling process is underway where 10 fire brigade vehicles and 60 fire fighters are working.
