Summary Establish National Counter Terrorism Council or restructure the NACTA, urges committee

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Action Plan Committee on Tuesday has finalised eight out of a total of as many as 17 recommendations of the anti-terror working group.

A meeting of the members of the committee was held headed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The members agreed upon as many as eight working group’s recommendations and the committee would further brainstorm for a day for agreement on the remaining.

The committee in one of its propositions has urged the Prime Minister (PM) to establish National Counter Terrorism Council or restructure the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).

National Counter Terrorism Council and Rapid Response Force should be formed in the entire country and that the Criminal Justice system must be reformed, the meeting suggested.

National Action Plan Committee urged the PM to disconnect the communication system of terrorists and that the misuse of social media should be limited. The religious institutions (maddrassas) must be registered and that the issue of Afghan muhajireen should be resolved after discussion with all the parties concerned, the meeting added.

It was suggested in the meeting that army courts should be established in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and terrorists be tried there.

According to the sources, the members of the committee agreed upon the recommendations of the anti-terror working group. On the other hand, in accordance with the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance, the summary regarding establishment of special courts in the country have been sent to the Minister for Law and that the ministry would send the summary to the President through the PM.
