Summary Despite tall claims of gas officials, gas has not been provided to the various cities of Punjab.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The repair work at gas processing plant in Pakistan Petroleum Limited has not yet been completed due to which a complete gas cut off has been reported at industrial areas and Compressed Natural Gas stations (CNG) in Punjab.
According to the officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), the explosion in the gas plant took place on Saturday which has caused damage to the boiler and 60-inch in diameter gas pipeline.
They claimed that the gas shortfall has been reached to 1800 million cubic feet.
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), SNGPL and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited SSGCL are altogether working on sorting out this issue.
On the other hand, gas shortage has been shaped up into worst form for domestic users in various cities of Punjab whereas gas supply to the textile sector has also been suspended.
Moreover, domestic users in Lahore are getting gas from 5am to 9 am in the morning and in the evening respectively.
Earlier, the continuous gas crisis in various cities of Punjab intensified due to technical problem that occurred in Sui gas field of Balochistan, Dunya News reported.
The gas supply to the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and industries in Punjab was already closed but now the crisis has transformed into a worst shape.
People are facing difficulties as they are compelled to spend a huge amount of money for dining in the hotels.
The officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) declared the gas pipeline explosion behind the gas cut-off and revealed that about 1900 million cubic feet gas shortfall has been reported so far whereas the labors are working to repair the pipeline as early as possible.
Moreover, officers have assured to restore Sui gas till Tuesday.
