Summary The government intends to overcome energy crisis during its tenure, the Prime Minister said.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – In a bid to provide relief to the inflation-hit masses, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Friday) announced to cut power tariff by Rs2.32 per unit.

Talking to media in Peshawar, the Prime Minister stated that there will be a substantial decrease in the inflation and the industrial production will increase due to cheaper electricity.

Provision of affordable electricity to the masses is top priority of the government, he said.

He also expressed hope that the petroleum prices will be reduced further by next month.

Highlight the ongoing projects to meet the energy needs, Nawaz Sharif said the work on Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline will begin soon and a pipeline will be laid from Gwadar to Nawabshah.

He said work on a number of energy projects is underway and the completion of these will help end loadshedding in the country. He said it is the PML-N government’s effort to overcome energy crisis during its tenure.
