ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court in Islamabad acquitted former President and co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari from ARY gold and Ursus references on Friday.

Judge of accountability court Muhammad Bashir heard the petition to clear Asif Zardari off ARY gold and Ursus corruption charges.

Petitioner’s lawyer Farooq H Naek said the cases against his client were built up on political grounds adding that charges against the prime accused of the cases were dropped but Asif Zardari not trailed as he enjoyed exemption then. Farooq Naek therefore requested the court acquit him from both cases.

Petitioner National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chaudhry Riaz argued that concrete evidence was presented before the court.

The court cleared Asif Ali Zardari’s name off both the NAB cases after hearing out the arguments and adjourned the hearing of SGS and Cotecna references till December 17.
