LONDON (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with his British counterpart David Cameron and newly elected Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in London today (Friday) to discuss regional security with particular reference to Afghanistan. Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah was also present in the meeting.

PM Nawaz is on a three-day visit to the United Kingdon where he participated in the Conference on Afghanistan, co-hosted by the governments of the UK and Afghanistan.
The Conference provided a platform for the government of Afghanistan to set out its vision for reform and for the international community to demonstrate enduring solidarity and support for Afghanistan.
The 13-year international combat mission in Afghanistan ends December 31, although Ghani has signed security agreements with Washington and NATO permitting a continued international military presence. Some 10,000 American troops will remain by the end of the year.
Earlier, US Secretary of State John Kerry held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of London Conference on Afghanistan. They discussed regional situation and matters of mutual interest.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan`s intensive anti-terrorism cooperation and efforts for regional peace and security need to be better recognised by the international community.
He said a stable, prosperous and democratic Afghanistan was in Pakistan s best interest and said his country looks forward to having a good working relationship with the new Afghan government.
