Summary USA-Pakistan investment in 2013 is worth $ 5 billion, says Ambassador Olson
KARACHI (Dunya News) – American Ambassador to Pakistan Richard G Olson on Wednesday has said that the Pakistan government is making all-out efforts to better the economy of the country and it is hoped that its hard work for the purpose would continue.
He expressed these views during his visit to the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) in Karachi.
Ambassador Olson said that the United States of America (USA) is helping Pakistan out to eliminate the hurdles in the growth of the economy and improve the workforce.
He said that that the investors’ trust is increasing due to the successful launch of the Sukuk Bonds in the International market and compliance with the International Monitory Fund’s (IMF) agreement.
The ambassador said that relations between both the countries are shifting from humanitarian aids to trade and foreign investment.
He also said that the investment between USA and Pakistan in 2013 has been worth more than $ 5 billion and that USA individually has invested around 1 billion and 30 crore dollars in the last seven years.
The US-Pakistan Economic and Finance Working Group established in the supervision of Federal Finance Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar and United States Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth Catherine Novelli is taking measures to better trade relationship between both the countries, he added.
Ambassador Olson said that the holding of the economic participation week in Pakistan in March 2015 is the result of the hardwork of the working group.
He further said that the people, particularly those who are affiliated with the business sectors of both the countries could play a better role in the partnership of USA and Pakistan than the governments.
