LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday took notice of disabled persons’ beating by police in Lahore and ordered Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take immediate actions against the responsible policemen, Dunya News reported.

The police baton charged disabled persons as they tried to proceed to Chief Minister’s Secretariat on International Day for Persons with Disabilities to protest against lack of availability of facilities.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered to suspend the officers involved in beating up the disabled persons.

According to the details, persons with visual impairment among other disabilities led a rally on Davis Road area of Lahore in which participants protested against lack of availability of rights and wanted to go to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The police started in-discriminatory baton-charge on the protesters as they tried to advance towards the CM Secretariat which left several injured.

Following the baton-charge, protesters with disabilities started chanting slogans against the government and demanded constitutional rights including a quota in the government jobs.
Taking notice of the incident, CM Punjab ordered Director Inspector General (DIG) Operations to hold inquiry over the incident.

Shahbaz Sharif said that violence on disabled persons will not be tolerated in any case.
