Summary No country should interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, the Defence Minister said.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khwaja Asif on Tuesday remarked that the region is facing result of the failed US diplomacy, adding that balance of power in the world has been disrupted due to one ‘super power.’
Addressing a function at Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, the Defence Minister said that peace and stability in Afghanistan is vital for peace in the region.
He said no country should interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan for peace in that country.
Pakistan will not interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, he added.
To a question, Defence Minister said military operation against terrorists is being carried out without any discrimination. He said our armed forces are giving sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Khwaja Asif said Pakistan and India can resolve disputes only through dialogue but the process of unprovoked firing by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) is not good for peace.
Pakistan`s desire for peace should not be taken as its weakness, he said.
According to India media reports, Narendra Modi is likely to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Dhulikhel retreat today (Nov 25) on the sidelins of 18th SAARC Summit.
PM Nawaz had attended Modi;s swearing in ceremony in May and held bilateral talks but the two leaders have not met since then.
India in August called off foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan after Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit held talks with Kashmiri leaders.
