Summary Chief Justice of Pakistan decided to take Anwar Zaheer Jamali back into SC’s services from ECP
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has decided to call Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali back from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Dunya News reported. According to the notification, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has decided to call back the interim Chief Election Commissioner Anwar Zaheer Jamali. ECP has been informed about the decision.
It is pertinent to mention here that the three-member bench, headed by CJP, had heard the case regarding appointment of CECP. CJP Nasirul Mulk had remarked during the hearing that appointment of CECP is being delayed. He had said that the government was given various chances but it didn’t appoint the CECP. Rejecting the demand for more time, SCP ruled that this issue will also be discussed in Local Body elections Case on December 1.
Supreme Court told that it will issue notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah. The case has been adjourned till December 1.
