Summary As many as 1,283 recommendations have been reviewed so far, says Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar has said that the Electoral Reforms Committee needs six to eight weeks for the preparation of recommendations for the elections.

He expressed these views while chairing an Electoral Reforms Committee’s meeting which was held to review the recommendations of the sub-committee.

After the meeting, Dar said, while talking to the media that a total of as many as 1,283 recommendations have been reviewed which both the central committee and the sub-committee came up with in their ten meetings and six meetings respectively.

He said that the committee has finalised five important election rules, including rules about electoral lists, the Political Parties’ Act, delimitation, election order and electoral symbols.

Dar said that important rules like that about Senate’s elections and the Representation of People Act 1976 are yet to be reviewed.

He further said that a time period of six to eight weeks is required to reviews such rules.
