Summary Poliovirus transferred to Afghanistan three times in the past three months, report suggests.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Report of International Health Committee on poliovirus suggested continuing screening Pakistanis for poliovirus in the wake of polio eradication whereas people travelling abroad should posses a polio certificate otherwise they would not be permitted to travel.

Committee’s next session is expected after six months and Pakistan would have to provide the record of people who had been given polio drops through anti-polio drive.

Report blamed Pakistan to have transferred poliovirus to Afghanistan three times in the past three months.

According to the report, travel sanctions will sustain for Cameron, Guinea, Pakistan and Syria.

Also, a three days anti-polio drive has been launched in 11 Union Councils of Karachi to inoculate 2,43,307 children aged below five today (Saturday).

According to details, polio campaign has been started in 11 Union Councils of East and West Karachi including Gujjar Union Council, Manghopir Union Council, Muzaffarabad Union Council, Muslimabad Union Council, Songal Union Council, Chisti Nagar Union Council, Islamia Colony Union Council, Rehri Union Council, Firdous Colony Union Council and Chakra Goth Union Council.

According to Health Department, 692 polio teams have been constituted for this purpose.
