LAHORE (Dunya News) – Bahria Town Hospital on Thursday treated as many as 56 children with speech and hearing impairments using cochlear implant surgeries costing Rs 120 million which were paid for by the hospital itself, Dunya News reported.

As per the program ongoing for six months in Bahria Town Hospital, the third phase of cochlear implant treatment has begun. As many as 126 surgeries on impaired children have been performed under this program so far.

The program has cost more than Rs 260 million collectively thus far. All the expenses are being paid for by the hospital administration.

Hospital’s administrator Dr Ghulam Mehdi said that one surgery costs between Rs 18 to 20 lakh. He said that within three to six months of the operation, patients start leading ‘normal lives’.
