KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani has said that National Highway Authority (NHA) is responsible for the Khairpur bus accident as the highway is under construction and the NHA has not done proper arrangements for passengers.

Speaker Durrani expressed grief over the incident before the Assembly session began on Tuesday.

Opposition leader Sheharyar Mehar, while criticising the Sindh government said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) could not better the condition of the National and Indus Highway in seven years.
Minister for Local Bodies Sharjeel Memon, in response to Mehar said that the opposition should not be politicking over sad accidents.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Khawaja Izharul Hassan demanded of the Sindh Chief Minister (CM) to make emergency centres on highways and pay an amount to the families of the deceased.

He said that it is to be decided by the government and the departments concerned that who is responsible for the Khairpur accident, however, to avoid more accidents they should immediately adopt safety measures on highways.
