Appeal to form larger bench for hearing foreign assets case in LHC

Summary 40 capitalists including Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, Altaf Hussain named in the case

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – An appeal has been made before Lahore High Court regarding formation of larger bench for foreign assets case and submerging of 2 such cases into one on Wednesday. In appeals filed by President United Youth Council Azeem Tariq and General Secretary Mian Amjad has nominated 40 capitalists including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.

It has been maintained in the appeal that the nominated persons have transferred wealth to foreign countries through illegal means and that they are involved in money laundering and tax evasion. The appeal says that the case is of national importance and therefore, constituting the larger bench is necessary. The appeal also maintains that with two case being heard simultaneously in different benches may lead to contradicting decisions, which is why formation of larger bench is important.
