Summary PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi denied all charges.
RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – A Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) court has indicted former MNA of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and nine others in the ephedrine quota case, Dunya News reported.
Abbasi is accused of misusing 500 kilograms of the controlled chemical (ephedrine) which he obtained in 2010, but instead of using it in medicine he had allegedly sold it to narcotics smugglers. Later, the ANF had registered a case against Abbasi and his partners in June, 2012.
During case proceedings today (Wednesday), the accused pleaded innocence. Hanif Abbasi told court that the charges against him are baseless.
He said that ephedrine quota was used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and its stock is still available. Anti-narcotics force can check the medicines.
Meanwhile, CNS court judge Akhtar Bahadur issued summon-notices to ten prosecution witnesses and adjourned the case hearing till November 12.
