Summary We’re unable to run 4 provinces, how shall we run more?, asks Sirajul Haq
KARAHCI: (Dunya News) – Jamaat Islami (JI) has opposed formation of new provinces or administrative units in Pakistan. “We’re unable to run four provinces, how shall we run more?” questioned JI head. JI head Sirajul Haq met Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) leader Pir Pagara in Karachi and discussed the political situation with him. He also requested Pir Pagara to play role of a bridge between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to diffuse political tensions between the two parties.
Talking to media after the meeting, Sirajul Haq said that more provinces should only be created once we are able to run the existing four provinces efficiently. He said that the current situation has taken the bliss of the people away from them. “Ending of the sit-in by one party doesn’t mean that the turmoil is over”, said JI head.
Answering the question regarding PPP leader Khurshid Shah’s statement and the tensions that have escalated between MQM and PPP as a result of his statement, Sirajul Haq said that Khurshid Shah belongs to the bloodline of the Prophet (s.a.w) and can never commit such blasphemy. JI warned politicians that if they failed to address the concerns of the public, people’s silence may erupt into something much bigger.
